Introduction.- Human papilomavirus is scientifically attributed the cause of intraepithelial and invasive neoplastic lesions of the cervix and requires virus DNA incorporated into the cellular genome. the aim of this study was to determine viral persistence in patients with in situ cervical center. Materal and methods.- A prospective, descriptive study with 140 patients diagnosed with in situ cervical cancer. in paraffin blocks, held at SOLCA headquerters between January 2009 to June 2010. The DNA was extracted fron the tissue in paraffin according to established protocols in HPV genotyping using Linear Array (Roche). This method includes detection of 37 types of HPV virus, 14 of High Risk and 23 of Low Risk, detected by 2 concentrations of B- globin as internal controls. Results.- from 140 patients, 33 cases were negative for the studied virus (23.6%) and 107 were positive (76.4%). The high - risk virus types were 18 with 22 cases (15.75%), type 33 with 14 cases (10%), type 52 with 4 cases (2.86%), amoung others. Conclusions.- This is a preliminary study of viral persistence en cervical cancer diagnosed with paraffin and molecular method wich revealed that in the population studied tghe persistence of the most common HR HPV was HPV 18.33 and 16. Key words.- HPV , DNA, genotyping, high risk, low risk, oncogenesis.
