 Introducción.- La Desnutrición es frecuente en pacientes oncológicos, por esta razón el soporte nutricional durante el tratamiento produce una respuesta favorable y disminuye las complicaciones. El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar si la suplementación oral fraccionada administrada a un primer grupo de 30 pacientes en riesgo o con desnutrición, podía mejorar el estado nutricional, comparándola con un segundo grupo de 30 pacientes que recibió suplementación administrada en forma no fraccionada.  Introduction.- Malnutrition is common in cancer  patients, therefore nutritional support during tratment produces a favorable response and reduces  complications. The objective of this research was to determine whether  oral supplementation administered in fractions to a first group of 30 patients at risk or malnourished, could improve nutritional status, compared with a second group of 30 patients who received supplementation administered completely. Material and Methods.- Descriptive study i which we determined the nutritional status of outpatients at the Clinical Nutrition Service  - Guayaquil SOLCA fron february to July 2010 oral supplementing them  with polymerec formulas. For data  evaluation software was used Excel and Chi square test. Results.- We evaluated 60 cancer patients, whose average age was 65.7 years old, accounted for 51% male and 49% female. Stomach cancer was more frequent in 25% of cases. 43.3 % of all patients for risk of malnutrition, 21.6 %  second - degree malnutrition, 21.6% second - degree malnutrition. the administration of the supplement in installments improved their nutritional status, 23 (76.7%) of patients  in the first group versus 12 (40%), the second group, with associated p value  of   0.002 was satistically  significant. Conclusion.- Positive impact on patients in the  group  receiving oral supplementation in fractions improving their nutritional  status. In addition they showed a better tolerance to the formula given. Keywords.- Oral supplementation, malnutrition. |
