Infecciones en inmunodeprimidos tienen una alta morbilidad y mortalidad, motivo por el cual la prevenci�n de estas infecciones es de suma importancia. Este prop�sito es tanto m�s importante en pacientes cuyas defensas inmunol�gicas est�n comprometidas, ya sea por enfermedades o terapia inmunosupresora.

Las infecciones en pacientes inmunodeprimidos se originan de la flora end�gena en el 85% de los casos y la mitad de estos microorganismos son adquiridos del ambiente hospitalario. El simple acto de lavarse las manos antes y despu�s de examinar cada paciente tiene una importancia muy grande, profilaxis con antibioticoterapia es de importancia tambi�n, al igual que mejorar las defensas del hu�sped.

Infections in immunocompromisedpatients have a high morbidity and mortality rate, this is the reason why to prevent such infections is of a great value. This purpose is od a greater importance when handling with patients whose inmunologic defenses are endangered, due to any disease or to irnmunosuppresant therapy.�

Infections in immunocompromised patients start atthe endogenous flora in the 85% of the cases and half of these microorganims are acquired from the hospital enviroment. Therefore, it is vital to wash our hands before and later examining each patient; prophylaxis with anti
biocotheraphy is also important, as well as to increase the host defenses.
