Evaluados los pacientes atendidos en el servicio de Cabeza y Cuello del Instituto Nacional de Oncología y Radiobiología durante años 1981 - 1990, seleccionándose 823, con diagnóstico de Carcinoma Laríngeo.

Los grupos etarios de mayor incidencia, fueron correspondientes a la 6ta y 7ma décadas de vida, con 576 pacientes, la disfonía fue el síntoma constatado con mayor frecuencia, reportándose en 640 casos. Relacionado con el sitio de origen, la ubicación en la glotis fue la de mayor frecuencia, al encontrarse en 429 pacientes. Se evidenció en la clasificación clínica, predominio de los

T1 con 337 casos, seguido del T3 con 187 pacientes.

Las terapéuticas utilizadas fundamentalmente fueron: radiaciones ionizantes en 555 pacientes y cirugía en 214; la recidiva fue tratada predominantemente con cirugía, siendo utilizada la misma en 169 pacientes. La Sobrevida Actuarial Global a 5 años fue de 78.7% y de 56.5% el intervalo Libre de enfermedad, referente al mismo tiempo.

The patients treated in the Head and Neck Departarment of the National Oncological and Radiological Institute were evaluated from 1981 to 1990. Eight hundred twenty three were selected who had
had Cancer of the Larynx.

The age groups with highest incidence of Cancer of the Larynx were patients in their 60s and 70s, totaling 576 cases. Partial aphonia was the most common symptom, reported by 640 patients. The cancer was most frequentiy located in the glotis, in a total of 429 patients. It
was observed in the Clinical Clasification, with TL predominating
in a total of 339 cases, followed by T3 with 187 cases.

The treatments utilized were ionizing radiation for 555 cases and surgery for 214. Recidivism was primany treated through surgery for 169 cases . The five year survival rate was 78.7%, while 56.5% of the patientswere free from disease for a five year period
