Reason of concern for the general surgeon has been the approach to liver trauma and lesions, perhaps due to lack of familiarity with its interna! anatomy especially the veins, which creates insecurity. Knowing the vasculobiliar and segmenta! disposition is important because it allows the surgeon to determine the resectibility of a neoplastic lesion and to plan the access route without putting in risk vascular and duct structures. In the Unit of anatomy and surgery investigation at our University, we undertook the task of analyzing 20 hepatic glands of cadavers with the purpose to offer a olear and concise proposal with respect to it division and the applicability resections of sectors orsegments ofthe hepatic anatomy.
